The Sea Shepherd has defeated the whalers?
I thought nothing was going to work against that industry. They seriously gave up, even after seizing that Sea Shepherd crew member, after successfully using the “scientific research” excuse for so long even other groups had started adopting it, after thumbing their noses at the world for so many years?
Then again, I didn’t really believe Mubarak was actually going to go until he went, either.
I may have become a pessimist.

If true then that is happy news indeed – here’s hoping the Japanese give up on whaling entirely.
Some say that the Sea Shepherds are engaged in high-seas piracy, but I know that they are really just conducting scientific research. It is important that we better understand how humans who have been at sea for months react to acute levels of frustration.

I suspect it has more to do with the revelations of fraud within government departments who were allegedly involved in a black market for the sale of whale meat as food – I know, who would’ve ever though in a million years that they were slaughtering whales to eat them, not just to study them. I know that when I study anything, I do my best to destroy it good. There ain’t no coming back from my research.
Reminds me of that old Onion story about research scientists who just really hate mice.
