Another side to the issue of Israel vs other people’s ships

On the subject of Israel and other people’s ships, two interesting links from Darryl Mason:

Certainly a different perspective from the one we’ve been seeing.

UPDATE: “Sinking” corrected to “attack on”.

  1. Jeremy
in your first link the so called ex marine keeps referring to his fellow activists as his “brothers” you don’t think that he might be a Muslim convert now do you? You know someone with a religious agenda?
Israel may have made a less than perfect call in trying to seize the ships at night but don’t pretend that those on board were not looking for the confrontation that they got or that the dead were all chirpy little peaceniks.

  2. I have no idea what his religion is. I don’t see the relevance. And I never said “the dead were all chirpy little peaceniks” – I wouldn’t call you a “chirpy little peacenik”, but I don’t think Israel has the right to shoot you.

  3. The important thing here is not his religion but his agenda , in the first instance by being there and in the second just why he felt the need to resist, with violence Israel policing its blockade of Gaza.

  4. Blast Tyrant

Jeremy, you can’t believe Ken O’Keefe because he is clearly a TERRORIST!!!

Not because he uses the term “brother” but because he was on the boat at all.

Seriously Iain, nobody uses that term but Muslims? You’re such a stupid prick.

  5. I thought he used “brother” so much because he was an ex marine. Semper Fi and all that.

  6. Blast Tyrant

That’s what i was thinking Broggly, but there are certainly other groups who use it.
Iain isn’t the brightest spark though…

  7. Blast Tyrant

“The important thing here is not his religion but his agenda , in the first instance by being there and in the second just why he felt the need to resist, with violence Israel policing its blockade of Gaza.”

You mean that agenda of trying to highlight an illegal and cruel blockage?
And did you even read his account Iain? Ken states that he responded with violence after seeing two of his brothers killed.

  8. “Semper Fi and all that.”

    Band of brothers etc etc

But c’mon, be reasonable, he’s on the other side of the debate to Iain Hall, he must be a TERRORISTMUSLIMHOMO!

  9. RobJ: Or as Colbert said in relation to the people on board the Mari Mavara, HUMANITERRORIST!

  10. “Certainly a different perspective from the one we’ve been seeing.”

yeh. i thought standard procedure was to arrest witnesses for a few weeks… until the media coverage blows over

only 6 days detention? they must be confident Ken wont get any airtime

actually now that i google it, its true. the usual media have mentioned him…counterpunch, info wars, indymedia, aljazeera…but not a peep from our “crucial fourth estate”

guess his story has too many unspinnable home truths

  11. Blast Tyrant

Where is SB on all this? Is he taking a vacation from his crazy Islamaphobic left-blaming nonsense for a while or something?

    It’s only a matter of time, surely…

  12. Hey Confessions.

    I thought it was brilliant when Colbert denounced what Helen Thomas said about Israelis going back to Poland and Germany with the zinger;

…if anything, the Palestinians should go back to where they came from.

The sqirming fromt the Israeli Ambassador was wonderful.

    Cheers.

  13. Splatterbottom

if anything, the Palestinians should go back to where they came from.

The thing is, Israel isn’t trying to send Palestinians anywhere. There are about a million of them living in Israel.

Funnily enough, the Israelis don’t want to send the Palestinians anywhere. The Palestinians, on the other hand, are bent on driving the Jews out of Israel.

  14. Wrong, as usual, SB.

Throughout the 50’s and 60’s in particular, Israel expeeled many Palestinian-Israelis, many to Jordan and Gaza, Lebanon, Syria, and interstingly, quite a few ended up in Cyprus and South America. One common tactic was to refuse re-entry after an overseas trip.

Post-’67 Israel ‘deported’/expelled/refused re-entry for tens of thousands of Palestinians from the OPTs.

And it continues today. One Palestinian MK has been threatened with having her citizenship revoked and being deported.

‘Go back to where you came from’ is, in fact, a common form of abuse towards Palestinian-Israelis.

Just imagine the same here – Aboriginal Australians being told to ‘go home’ .

  15. Splatterbottom

OK, lets test your proposition and see if the MK is expelled. That a few of her political opponents call for her expulsion is neither here nor there.

The fact is that a million Palestinians live in Israel. No one is making them leave. The ‘peace activists’, on the other hand, were calling for the Jews to be sent back to Auschwitz. No wonder so many leftists supported them.

  16. ‘Transfer’ is a very popualr theme in Israel – at least for Palestinians.

You’ll aways be struggling with reality when LGF is a major source of your news.

  17. Splatterbottom

Nawagadj, what’s with the ad hominem attack re LGF? Do you really think that is a logical argument?

The only time I mentioned LGF was in an earlier thread in reference to photos doctored by Reuters, which Reuters later acknowledged didn’t meet its standards. How was I wrong exactly? The fact is that I disagree with LGF on most things, but this time they got it right. Obviously you are so blinded by ideology that you would rather be wrong than admit that.

  18. Don’t forget SB you had a link to the New York Post accompanying your link to LGF.

“The fact is that I disagree with LGF on most things, but this time they got it right.

You mean you trawled Google for support for your argument and the best you could come up with were LGF and the New York Post.

  19. “The ‘peace activists’, on the other hand, were calling for the Jews to be sent back to Auschwitz. No wonder so many leftists supported them.”

You also can’t make statements like this and expect people to take you seriously in discussion of this (or indeed any) topic.

  20. Splatterbottom

RobJ: You mean you trawled Google for support for your argument and the best you could come up with were LGF and the New York Post.

I mean I found an undoubtedly correct article which I linked to. Not being able to dispute the correctness of, say the exposure of Reuters mis-editing of pictures (which they now acknowledge), you resort to ad hominem arguments. This is just stupidity on steroids!

Buns: “Shut up. Go back to Auschwitz,” . Idiot leftist Helen Thomas said much the same thing.

  21. LOL LGF and the NYP are crap……except for when SB agrees with them…. Straight out of the trollumnist’s hand book.

“you resort to ad hominem arguments. ”

It is true that I can’t be bothered debating you, you want to know why? Read your own bullshit posts. Like this one:

    ““struggle to exist.”” FFS!

    or this piece of filth:

“The Israelis enjoy the benefits of being civilised hence their first world lives and their disproportionate contribution to science and culture. Unfortunately their neighbours are retarded by the barbarism of the Islamist ideas so dominant in their society.”

LOL – you think Israel would even exist without the billions in aid and the military support of the US and it’s allies? Intel are in Ireland too!

What the fuck is ‘civilised’ about turfing people out of their homes to house settlers? (It’s a rhetorical question, don’t bother answering with anymore of your bullshit)

Like I say you’re a naive twat, or maybe you’re an evil prick? Either way it’s an utter waste of time debating you, I won’t waste mine though I may continue to point out the ridiculousness of your posts.

  22. Splatterbottom

Shorter RobJ: “I am too stupid to argue logically.”

  23. Hmm, And there you go whinging about the ad – homs and what do you go and do? So as well as being a naive twat you’re also a total hypocrite. 🙂

As for me being able to argue logically I’m happy for the other readers to read our posts and make up their own minds.

  24. “…Helen Thomas said much the same thing.” = didn’t actually say that.

  25. Splatterbottom

    Me too.

  26. ““…Helen Thomas said much the same thing.” = didn’t actually say that.”

Yeah, but you know nawagadj, facts and SB are strange bedfellows.

  27. Splatterbottom

Helen told the Jews to go back to Poland (where Auschwitz is). The fact is that 70% of Israel’s Jews was born there.

  28. So Helen Thomas’ statement proves leftists supported the peace activists because they want Jews to go back to Auschwitz? Yeah, not really. Is she the appointed spokesperson for leftists or what?

  29. Splatterbottom

Her statement was more emblematic than proof. She was a little bit less subtle than those leftists who express their antisemitism by holding Israel to a higher standard than other countries.

  30. “Helen told the Jews to go back to Poland (where Auschwitz is). The fact is that 70% of Israel’s Jews was born there.” – sb

Are you really this clueless or are you just making stuff up as you go along??

  31. Splatterbottom

slightly ambiguous, nawagadj. By ‘there’ I meant Israel. It is pointless to tell someone born in Israel to go back to Poland.

  32. “who express their antisemitism by holding Israel to a higher standard than other countries” – SB

    …and just another apologist talking-point.

Though they can never quite explain what this higher standard is. Usually it’s a lot of flailing about trying to dismiss basic IHL.

  33. Splatterbottom

So tell me, nawagadj, why has the UN HRC directed the vast majority of its condemnations at Israel. What makes Israel the worst country in the world – must be the Jews, eh?

  34. Just so long as you don’t mind us all assuming that all of Israel’s apologists like yourself, SB, are as consumed with hatred of Arabs and Muslims as, say, Marty Peretz.

  35. More talking points SB.

Yes, I know that’s what all the one-eyed pro-Israeli web sites say, but have you ever bothered to check this out for yourself??

I once had an interesting on-line discussion with one of your kind, who spouted all the same rubbish you are now. They were convinced that the UN was totally biased, referring to the number of UN SC resolutions about Israel/Palestine. So I had a look at another similar case (Western Sahara) for an objective comparison. There were almost as many UN resolutions regarding the situation there, and who has ever heard of Western Sahara?
I disappointed my on-line friend further, by showing that on a resolutions / per year of conflict, Western Sahara was actually ahead of Israel/Palestine.

Nevermind SB, you just keep the faith that Israel shouldn’t be held to the same standards as everyone else, by arguing that the same standards are somehow different. Hello special pleading.

  36. Splatterbottom

Buns I am well used to you making assumptions which are the opposite of the truth. How is this any different?

  37. So I shouldn’t smear all Israel supporters by assuming they are all like Marty Peretz? But all leftists agree with Helen Thomas’ comment that Jews should go back to Poland. Got it.

  38. Splatterbottom

I didn’t say all leftists, but rather “many leftists”, a point even you should readily be able to appreciate.

  39. Blast Tyrant

“As for me being able to argue logically I’m happy for the other readers to read our posts and make up their own minds.”

I’ve made up my mind Rob, with doozies like these:
“why has the UN HRC directed the vast majority of its condemnations at Israel. What makes Israel the worst country in the world – must be the Jews, eh?”
    and
“Helen told the Jews to go back to Poland (where Auschwitz is).” somehow = she wants them to go back into a concentration camp.

All SB has is shrieks of antisemitism and a desperate clinging to victim-hood status, just like all the other one eyed historical revisionist defenders of Israel.
And again, that SB has accused the Left of falsely trying to identify with the victim all the time makes it especially amusing.
