We all know that the protests in Athens are LEFTIST ELITIST BARBARIANS GOING WILD (hat tip Herald Sun) but, until the UK Guardian ran a pictorial series this week, most in the English-speaking world were unaware of the role of Louk the protest dog, who’ll storm the barricades for nothing more than a sausage:
Apparently there’s a whole gang of these anarchist canines stirring up trouble in the cradle of democracy. One named Kanelos, who died a few years ago (and for whom Louk is often mistaken) became a folk hero. On the pictorial evidence they appear to be impervious to water cannons, tear gas, paint bombs – Greek police are helpless before them.
The Greek parliament appears to be unmoved by their arguments, however.
UPDATE: You’ll note that, although Greece is full of cats, it’s only dogs who appear to be involved in the riots. This is because whilst dogs like to run around making lots of noise, cats prefer to push for change subtly, quietly, without decision-makers realising they’re being manipulated.
