Cartoonists can be so cruel

First they insulted Muslims and forced some to riot, and now cartoonists are after Victorian police, publishing this stupid image in the Delhi Mail Today:

How about an absurd Holocaust comparison, while you’re at it?

Fortunately the force contains only robust professionals for whom the insult will just be water off a duck’s back. I mean, you should hear the vicious name-calling they don’t in any way respond to out on the street.

Still, it’s good to see that the Police Minister and Police Association are bravely sticking up for them.

I dread to think who those funny picture guys are going to go after next, but it’d better not be lefty bloggers. We’re kind of fragile.

UPDATE: Now they’ve done it. GILLARD ANGRY.

  1. what if the murderer is also indian, will we see any eating of pies

  2. “Police outraged by Indian KKK cartoon”

Then again, I think they might be right to be mildly pissed off but ‘outraged’? Reminds me of the outrage to some Muslims when there were some rude cartoons of Alhah, or Catholics and other varieties of Christians being outraged at piss Christ.

Hmm I just skimmed the article, I can see an ‘incredibly offensive’ but no ‘outraged’ as written in the article title. Good going ABC.

Oh, and the offence occurred in Yarraville (3013), they even said it was Yarraville on the ABC last night now they’re reverting to Footscray, You can reasonably argue that it happened in West Footscray (3012) but it most certainly didn’t happen in Footscray (3011).

I wonder what sort of cartoon would outrage me?

  3. The Delhi Mail cartoon has already been made over in typical Australian style…

Remember the outrage over Schapelle Corby?

  5. “Remember the outrage over Schapelle Corby?”

Yeah I do, even remember Ray Martin hosting a show about it, I’d give the outraged idiots the benefit of the doubt if they got equally outraged over the apparently less attractive Rene Lawrence.

What was the name of that young bloke executed in Singapore a couple of years ago? Where the hell was Ray Martin on that one.

I think we could all do a bit better if we didn’t get so outraged all the time, that’s me, you, the cops, the Schapelle Corby fans etc etc

  6. From your link confessions:

“Devine had this to say: ‘The Australian public, has seen what Corby’s defence team saw long ago: a transcendent grace that makes her guilt implausible. Her strength of character, not to mention the careful styling and stunning good looks, improved in recent months by jail-time weight loss, have bolstered her claim she is innocent and that corrupt baggage handlers planted the drugs in her boogie board bag.’

    LOL…

    Embarrasing ain’t it?

  8. “I think we could all do a bit better if we didn’t get so outraged all the time.”

I’d must object to that in the strongest possible terms!!!!

  9. “I’d must object to that in the strongest possible terms!!!!”

    I find your objection OUTRAGEOUS!

  10. I resent that!

  11. reb – mate, that ‘cartoon’ of yours does nothing but reinforce a whole lot of negative stereotypes.

  12. I think the goal of the cartoonist was to stir the pot, in India and Australia.

  13. “that ‘cartoon’ of yours does nothing but reinforce a whole lot of negative stereotypes”

Yes. That was the point.. 🙂

  14. Skepticus Autartikus

Does anybody have the latest body count and number of Indian embassies burnt to the ground by Victorian Police and racist white Australians, who according to Jeremy must have been “FORCED to riot”?

  15. The thing that gets me:

Mainstream australia: we don’t understand blackface, it doesn’t mean anything in Australia… just jokes!

Mainstream australia: fried chicken doesn’t mean anything in australia… just jokes!

Mainstream australia: *outraged* how dare they use images of the KKK. That’s not funny!
