Comedy Central’s online archive of The Daily Show is now being blocked from non-US web users, leaving Australian viewers (and many others, including, say, US troops serving overseas) three options:
- Pay the local pay-TV company, if there is one, $60/month or so for one TV show;
- Go through the hassle of using a US proxy to access the Comedy Central site;
- Learn about torrents.
Since #1 is just ridiculous, and #2 is a right pain in the arse… congratulations to everyone involved for pushing people to piracy. You’re geniuses.
I’d embed a satirical clip from the show to highlight the ridiculousness of this BUT YOU WOULDN’T BE ABLE TO SEE IT.

If it should just happen that one was browsing the web via one of those proxies that happens to be located in the you-ess-ay, would one be able to view the footage?
This has been a rhetorical question.
