An Onymous Lefty

A courageous statement

Other things that belong in a “Yes Minister” episode:

  • Stephen Conroy’s completely improper attempt, as a Government Minister, to influence current proceedings in the Federal Court to get revenge on one of the participants;

  • Stephen Conroy’s farcical defences of his unworkable internet filter plan;
  • Stephen Conroy’s attempt to get someone sacked because they’d criticised him;
  • Stephen Conroy’s threats that someone accessing a political information website should be fined thousands of dollars;
  • Stephen Conroy’s inability to differentiate between pornography involving children, that his filter wouldn’t block, and children accessing adult pornography, that his filter couldn’t block without blocking all adults from it too;
  • Stephen Conroy’s disturbing links with certain bankrupt Melbourne smear merchants.

The question is – would it be one of the hilarious episodes, or one of the ones that makes you sigh sadly at the end?

    Perhaps you could’ve just left it at Senator Conroy — no need for further explanation.

    Let’s just hope that Mr. Rudd sees the light when he re-shuffles the Cabinet chairs after Easter and Conroy gets shown the door.

    In answer to your final question — it would be one of those episodes that are too close to the truth to be funny.

    Conroy is an idiot, though its obvious he is the fall guy here. Rudd is just as churchy conservative as Conroy.

    You forgot the episode where Conroy gets hauled over the coals by his shadowy Establishment Masters.

    Its a hilarious episode of slapstick comedy as the bumbling Clouseau Conroy fails repeatedly to
    wrestle control of the Internet from the peons. Meant to be an incubator test for the rest of the Western world, Conroy naffs up the filter and eventually gets the boot.
